The 205m high Bakun CFRD started its impoundment on 13 September 2010 after receiving the green light from the authority as Mr. Tan Yong Long, General Manager of the Project told President Bayardo Materon and Mr. Chen Qian , Secretary General of CFRD International Society on 22 Oct. 2010.
Bakun CFRD is now in its 5th month of impoundment and is also performing very well too - small seepage and deformation well within the design limits. The reservior will be reaching the minimum supply level for wet commissioning of the first turbine in April 2011. Commercial operation of the first unit is expected in June/July 2011.
 It is estimated to take about 7 months to reach the minimum operating level, EL 195m, and commercial generation of the first of the eight 300MW turbines in the middle of next year. The full supply level, EL 228m, is expected to be reached in 14 months based on the inflow data recoded at the dam site from 2002 to 2010. Riparian release via 2 numbers of 2m diameter cone valves in diversion tunnel No. 1 was made a day after the closure, after working round the clock by the contractor to excavate the channel for the flow.

The Jiangpinghe CFRD is 219m high, the second highest of the same type in the world in Enshi, China,commenced its plinth concrete placement on Agu.10,2010.
The dam filling commenced on Agu.15,2010.
