BEIJING -- China's premier said flood control efforts are at a "crucial stage" as the death toll jumped by more than a dozen Saturday and more torrential rains are expected through Sunday night.

A peak flood of 70,000 m³/s  passed through the Three Gorges Dam successfully on Jul.21, 2010. it is the first catastrophic flood since its completion. The storage outflow reduced to 40,000 m³/s after being keaped by the Dam. The peak value of this flood was much greater than those in 1998 or 1954.
