“Green” energy boom destroys tribes – new report

To mark the UN Day of Indigenous People, Survival has released a new report highlighting the devastating impact on tribal people of a massive boom in dam-building for hydropower.

KTDA to use Sh5bn on hydro power

KTDA has identified 16 sites for setting up hydropower plants with a potential of producing 28.33 megawatts when completed.

The Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) plans to spend Sh5 billion in setting up hydro power plants.

Ethiopia's largest Hydroelectric power dam inaugurated

Gilegel Gibe II Hydro Power Project constructed at a point 250 kms south west of the capital at over 5.2 Billion Birr was inaugurated on Wednesday in the presence of top government officials and resident ambassadors.

The Gilgel Gibe II project, the largest ever built power station in the country, can generate 420 mega watt of electricity.
